Description

Diadectes is a genus of large reptile-like tetrapods (Reptiliomorpha) that lived during the Early Permian.

It is one of the earliest herbivorous tetrapods, and also one of the first fully terrestrial animals to reach large size. It is not a reptile, but is closely related to them.

According to Tree of Life, Diadectomorphs are the sister group to the true reptiles and all amniotes.
